 Journal entry questions
What do the effects of these actions have in common? Why do people feel such intense desire to reach these states (get high, drunk or remove themselves from reality)?  What are the major differences/benefits/downfalls between achieving an altered state by way of drugs and by way of meditation Compare and contrast them.

The common features that both Drugs and Meditation have is that both calm you down, or make you happy. They also make you always think less. People who meditate, or do drugs think that they get less bothered by little things in their life. Some people say they are curious or bored and want to see how drugs will make them feel, or to experiment. But everyone reacts differently to drugs, and there is no way to estimate what your reaction will be. With meditation you become very calm and peaceful it doesn’t get you high, but you feel separation, relaxation, your mind is clear.

People use drugs and meditation to behave the way that they want. Also they want to change something about their lives.People use  drugs and mediation, because they think that it puts them in to a place of happiness.  people who use drugs think drugs are a solution to thier problems, But the drugs affects them later in life. drug/meditation users say, the hardship in reality that we live in, people dont have choice, but to do what they want. drug users It's harder for them  to think clearly and make good decisions. they  can do dangerous things that could hurt them, or  the other people. But with mediation they feel fresh while they are meditating, and when they meditate they feel calm, and they feel like that they could do anything.

The differences between people who maditate or use drugs is meditation is quiet boring, but drug users feel more wild, and crazy exciting. Also it
affects the way you think, making it harder to make safe choices and protect yourself in dangerous situations. while maditation Gives you a greater sense of purpose and greater sense of meaning to life. Some drugs can kill you with just one use, and they can cause health problems like heart attacks, and breathing problems. maditation helps to reduce negative emotions such as depression and anxiety. It makes the mind  clearer, improves memory, makes the mind calmer and more relaxed, but drugs cause life-long damage to your body, and it can be really hard to quit.

The Caste System

This video shows how people in India live under the caste system. The caste system assigns each person to level in society based on who his parents are. Each person is born in to his caste, and no one can change his caste. There are four different levels or castes in the system. The priests or religious scholars who belong to the top caste are the most respected of all people in this system. The people who are in the lowest level are called untouchables. They don't have any rights and they are considered to be worth nothing. They can't own any Property. They are treated worse than any other group in the caste system. There was a landlord who was in the second level highest caste. This leader had untouchable-workers whom he asked to clean up human and animal feces. The untouchables are like slaves. Nobody cares about them or about how they feel. The other groups in the caste system think that the only jobs untouchables should have are the dirty ones. For example, they often work cleaning bathrooms. In the video some of the untouchables didn't want to show their faces because they were ashamed about whom they were.
